COMMISSION A PIECE

Commissioning a piece is purrfectly easy here at Majestikart.

The price of the custom commissioned piece will be determined by size, and level of detail.  Please e-mail us at majestikart@aol.com with the subject line "Commission" to discuss your requirements.

Please be sure to contact us well in advance of any deadline since Vicky does have a waiting list.

After we discuss the details of your piece, we will quote you the total price for the work with shipping costs, and place you on the waiting list, we will then give you an approximate date that Vicky will begin working on your commission.

Once started most commissions can be completed and shipped within 4 weeks, unless otherwise stated when you place your order.

THE PROCESS

Step 1 - Your Photographs (pet portraits only)
Vicky requires clear good quality photograph close up and if possible another good quality photograph that shows the colouring, markings and the pose, if you require more than one pet on one piece Vicky prefers to work using two photographs one of each pet, Don't worry Vicky can put them together on the piece. You can either email your photographs to majestikart@aol.com with the subject line "Commission"

Step 2 - Progress and feedback
Once you have decided on the size you require, we can then discuss timescales, backgrounds, and compositions. You can have as little input or as much as you wish.

Step 3 - Making Payment
First Vicky will make a mock up of your commission for your approval, Once Vicky begins working on your commission we require 50% of the total up front to cover material costs and as a deposit.

Step 4 - Progress and feedback
Once the mock up has been approved and payment made, Vicky will begin adding the colour, and from then on the stages of your commission will be sent via email,so you can check the progress and make any alterations, feel free to email us at any stage of the process, we want you to be happy this is your commission.

Step 5 - Approval and final payment
You will receive digital images by e-mail of the completed piece for you to approve before we send you an invoice for the remaining total amount due.

THE MEDIUMS

Coloured Pencils: allow a highly detailed piece with a rich smooth finish, they are more time consuming than oils or pastels but the control you have makes up for this.
All of my Coloured pencil pieces are drawn on Arches Hot press watercolour paper 300lb.

Pastels: are a very soft medium, similar to oils without the drying time, which can be up to 6 months.
Pastel pieces are drawn on velour paper which gives a beautiful soft effect.

Graphite Pencil: is a precise medium similar to the Coloured pencils which gives you that striking monotone look.
Graphite is again drawn on Arches Hot press watercolour paper 300lb

PRICES

Below is a table of the current prices for Commissions.  If you are unsure of anything please email us at majestikart@aol.com with the subject line "Commission" for a further explanation.

For each additional pet in the same portrait add GB £40 for coloured pencils.

For each additional pet in the same portrait add GB £30 for pastels.

For additional pet in the same portrait add GB £20 for pencils.

Scenic Backgrounds 16 x 12 - 18 x 14 = GB £70

Scenic Backgrounds 20 x 16 and above = GB £100

The above are not supplied framed.

Keyrings, Prints and other gift items of your commissioned piece are available upon request.

POSTAGE AND PACKAGING

The cost of the piece does not include delivery. All items are sent using the following services, depending on the size of the piece and its destination - Special delivery, Parcel Force, International Signed For and Global Express Parcel Force, all commissioned pieces are securely packaged and insured. Delivery prices vary on the size of your commission and this can be chosen when ordering.
